No turning back ~ Couch to 5k Week 7 Day 2

Category : Achievement, Couch to 5k, Fitness, Personal Power, Personal Victory

I officially declared myself a runner today! There is NO TURNING BACK now!  My Couch to 5k Week 7 Day 2 run was simply amazing!

As you heard in the video, I didn`t want to go backwards so I opted to run the 2 miles anyhow! How incredible is that!! I am more than proud of myself.

Now the big issue is whether to find a different 5k to run and attend the Regional or pass it up. I am thinking I need to find another 5k to run instead and attend the event and have the best of both worlds! I think I would have regrets if I skipped the Regional meeting.

Time will tell…..

Loving Couch to 5k!!!!

in·spired  [in-spahyuhrd]

–adjective

1. aroused, animated, or imbued with the spirit to do something, by or as if by supernatural or divine influence: an inspired poet.

2. resulting from such inspiration: an inspired poem; an inspired plan.

3. inhaled: inspired air.

That sums up my Couch to 5k Week 7 Day 1 run! Check out my video and you will see why :)

I was so inspired by the time I hit the 25 minute mark to continue to the 2 mile mark just to see if I could! I totally could have run 3 miles tonight.

I am still in awe of this program and the fact that I just ran 2 miles and 7 weeks ago I could barely run 60 seconds. It is such a lesson in the fact that small shifts in your actions compounded over time will deliver desired results! Just imagine if we could have a plan laid out for our entire lives like this! [we actually do but that is another story :) !]

I love to hear you comments and how you are doing with the goals you have for you life and if you are doing C25k, please share your results with me! It helps keep me motivated.

I appreciate you all so much!

Couch to 5k Week 6 Day 3 ~ Domination!

Category : Achievement, Couch to 5k, Fitness, Personal Victory

I am so stoked!!!!! I just don`t even want to get into writing about today all I can say is that Couch to 5k Week 6 Day 3 …. Dominated!!!

I totally get the difference in how I was running today, verses the weeks prior. I don`t know what shifted for me but I was totally running with my thighs and butt, and I felt stronger, had a bigger stride, my shins didn`t hurt, and I shaved 2-3 minutes off my previous time. I really recommend you try to focus on that and see if it makes a difference for you!

I can`t wait to get my shakes back in on Monday and I am so stoked about starting Week 7!!! Only 3 more weeks till I graduate Couch to 5k!!! Then it is all about improving my speed and posture. The FCA River Valley Run in Nov 6th so I will have plenty of time to rock it out and improve!

I Hate Fast Food!! Couch to 5k Week 6 Day 2

Category : Common Sense, Couch to 5k, Fitness

I repent!!! I hate Fast Food!! My Couch to 5k Week 6 Day 2 was not as enjoyable as it should have been… I ate Taco Bell earlier in the day :(

I have been out of my meal replacement nutrition shakes and this week I have learned the lesson about proper nutrition and what happens when you don`t have it.

The only thing I can say is this, as long as I have the power to order these shakes, I will never be caught without them in my kitchen ever again.

You have heard it said, you don`t know what you`ve till it`s gone… well that has rung true for me this week for sure. I started the 90 day challenge and I made the mistake of not planning how long the shakes would last me. I put in another order that wont be here until Monday but I ran out this past weekend, one week into my challenge. Largely in part to the fact that I was sharing them with son and just not paying attention.

I really didn`t think it would be that big of deal, I would just wait for a week to get my shipment…. boy was I wrong. I am just feeling blah all week and I have already put back on a few pounds of the 8 I lost week becasue I have not been able to control my cravings…. I am a carbaholic … this week already I have ate tons of crackers and peanut butter, pizza from Geno`s, Taco Bell, had 3 sodas from Sonic…. I am feeling sick to my stomach just thinking about all the crap I have put in my body this week. My stomach is bloated and I feel lethargic. No energy, and all I want to do is sleep!

Last week, I was full of energy, sleep well and awoke early, recovered from my runs easily and just felt sooooo much better. I didn`t have cravings either!

So moral of the story… I HATE FAST FOOD! It is poison and I don`t ever want to eat it again! Get yourself on a nutrition plan. I am doing the 90 day challenge and I love it!

Category : Accountability, Common Sense, Couch to 5k, Fitness

Couch to 5k transformation Week 6 Day 1…. complete. Not a whole lot to say tonight guys. I wish I was all happy and empowered but all I want to do this evening is go to bed!

One word of advice for you runners coming up…. hydrate and eat right. PERIOD. I got off track and I paid for it today.

I want to take a moment to really thank my accountability partner Debbie Stevens today. I firmly believe that she has helped me find the drive and determination and the love for myself to not give up on myself. If you don`t have an accountability partner, I suggest you get one. If you are not sure what an accountability partner is, ask, and I will be more than happy to share what our format is.

if I can do this…. YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!

ap·pre·ci·ate  [uh-pree-shee-eyt]

~verb

  1. 1. to be grateful or thankful for: They appreciated his thoughtfulness.
  2. 2. to value or regard highly; place a high estimate on: to appreciate good wine.
  3. 3. to be fully conscious of; be aware of; detect: to appreciatethe dangers of a situation.
  4. 4. to raise in value.

This day for me was all about how much I appreciate each one of you for your support, encouragement, kind words, and love. If it wasn`t for all of you I don`t know that I would have had the motivation to continue.

I have started to realize how to really be thankful for things that some people complain about. Things like sore legs, being sweaty, the physical and mental challenge of pushing myself harder and father than I have ever gone before.

Some people complain about how hot it is, and how sore they are and how mentally challenging this is. I did too. But now I embrace it all and realize that if I was not feeling all these things, I would not be fully alive. I am grateful for sore legs, that I have legs to run on, some people wont ever experience the joy of running. I am grateful for sweating, because it makes me know I am active. I am grateful for the challenge, because every time I reach a goal I get to experience the thrill of victory!

I am grateful I live in this free world and have the right to be, do and have all that I choose to work to get.

Thank you God for the gift of life and an able body and the chance to be my best.

2. the condition of being determined; resoluteness
3. the act or an instance of ending an argument by the opinion or decision of an authority

5. a decision or opinion reached, rendered, or settled upon

Today I was DETERMINED that this Couch to 5k Week 5 Day 1 workout WAS GOING to get the best of me.

I was going to TAKE AUTHORITY over my body and my mind and I was going to make it!

I fixed my sights on reaching the end of the workout victorious!

The more I go through this process, the more I really understand the power of our thoughts. The importance of filling ourselves daily with the positive, edifying, nurturing material that feeds our spirit and soul and mind. And also filling our bodies with the proper fuel to be able to demand the best out of it.

I have changed my nutrition over the past 3 days and I firmly believe that is what helped me have the results I had today along with my mindset. Our body, mind and spirit have to all be receiving the proper nutrition in order for us to have balance and operate at our peak potential.

I am so excited to see the results of this C25k journey as well as the 90 Day Body by Vi Challenge. If you haven`t checked out my Day 1 video of the 90 Day Challenge you can watch it here. I will be posting those results weekly on Mondays!

So this  Couch to 5k Transformation Week 4 Day 3 edition of my journey needs a TMI for men WARNING (too much information)!!!

This edition talks about some issues we face as women that can give us reasons to take ourselves out of  the game at times.

I hope that the women out there who read and watch this will share your experiences with this issue and how you have overcome it on your journey.

I have a couple of friends who are kind of experts on this issue… They are both from outside the USA where it seems like it is not as faux paus to speak openly about these issues as us Americans seem to be about the subject.

Check out their sites…

Follow Friday ~ Avram Gonzales ~ InspirAction

Category : Adventure, Follow Friday, Inspiration, Tribes

Have you ever wished your life was something of an adventure?

That you could escape to a whole new world?

I remember reading Nancy Drew and The Hardy boys growing up and I always loved Scooby Doo because they were always on some kind of exciting adventure trying to solve some scary mystery. They always ended in a happy ending with a pretty good moral to the story.

Everyone loves Indiana Jones, men because of the adventures he had and women because he was a hunky Adventurer! As humans, we all have a hidden desire for excitement, or romance or adventure and that is why those kinds of books are a multi BILLION dollar industry.

It amazes me that there are some categories where loyal readers will spend more than $40-$50 a month on series books to read to take them to another world, an exciting life, an amazing adventure.

But I wonder…. what would our lives be like if we chose to live full out, making it a point to try something different every day.

It really isn`t hard to imagine…. I have a friend named Avram Gonzales who does just that.

He tries to do something new, every day, that he has never done before.

I met Arvam on the internet after I saw him post something on another friends wall. His appearance intrigued me ( he wears bandanas and tie die…. nuff said) and his post was entertaining so I checked him out.

He has a site called InspirAction where he shares his daily adventures. Avram is about the same age as my older kids so I see him as more of an adopted child… wild albeit, but loved just the same! I love his zest for life and his willingness to just juice it for all it has to offer.

I have found myself reliving much of my childhood through watching his videos and reading his posts. His adventuresome behaviors have started to rub off on me and I feel a yearning to regain that adventure of my youth. That living with the spirit of discovery, of conquering the unknown, facing your fears, and just having a bit of reckless abandon… I lost that somewhere along the path of being ‘grown up’.

I just wanted to share with Avram and with the world of my readers, how much I enjoy his antics and his insights. He is wise above his years in many areas, and yet still childlike in his pursuit of life.

If you know Avram, you know exactly what I am talking about. If you don`t know Avram, you should get to know him. I have learned many things from him in such a short amount of time and really from such an unlikely suspect. Avram is brilliant, playful, insightful, and very smart and can have some rather “colorful” language at times.

He is authentic and transparent and that is why I respect him so much. I may not agree with all his ideals or maybe even some of his antics but that’s okay. I respect him for his contribution to the world. He respects me as well and that is so refreshing. Sometimes, the mother in me comes out and I want to give him a bit of a talking to about some of the shenanigans he pulls, but for some reason, I just let him be, I kinda trust  that somehow this kid is gonna be alright and he is gonna make a real difference on a large scale in the world.

There are two his of videos that really inspire and excite me and I want to share with you just a sample of why I really enjoy following this young man and why I think you should follow him around too.

WARNING!!!!! He does drop a few colorful “expletives” here and there but if you can get over yourself enough to look past it… you may just find that your sense of adventure gets riled up and you begin to have a burning desire to go live your life…. full out with passion and purpose.

Thanks Avram for putting Action to your Inspiration and sharing your life with us.

I hope you find them as inspiring and exciting as I do!

So this was his adventure going up to Grays Peak ….

And this was his adventure coming down from the same mountain a different day…..

Now I don`t know about you….. but I think that is

Living Full OUT with Passion & Purpose!!

Rock on Avram!
